Two new Neil Young tribute compilations are set for release, featuring an impressive roster of indie and rock artists. Modest Mouse, Kurt Vile, and MJ Lenderman are among the contributors to Heart of Gold: The Songs of Neil Young, Vol. 2 – Out of the Blue and Vol. 3 – Into the Black, both due out on November 6. As Brooklyn Vegan reports, the tracklists reveal Modest Mouse’s contribution is a cover of “Barstool Blues,” featuring the band Califone. Kurt Vile and the Violators take on “When Your Lonely Heart Breaks,” while MJ Lenderman offers a rendition of “Separate Ways.” These join tracks from Ben Gibbard, Lucinda Williams, and King Princess, among others, across the two volumes. Two singles are available now: Draco Rosa’s “After the Gold Rush” from Volume 2 and King Princess’s “Helpless” from Volume 3.
