Militarie Gun Unleash ‘World’s Away Burning’ with Mannequin Pussy

Los Angeles punk outfit Militarie Gun has released a potent new single, “World’s Away Burning,” featuring the fiery vocals of Mannequin Pussy‘s Marisa ‘Missy’ Dabice. As Pitchfork reports, the track is the lead preview for the deluxe edition of their acclaimed 2025 album, ‘God Save The Gun,’ which is scheduled for release on August 7 via Loma Vista. The collaboration highlights a growing trend of powerful pairings within the modern punk scene.

According to a press release detailed by NME, the song was originally recorded during the ‘God Save The Gun’ sessions but was ultimately cut because its outward-looking perspective didn’t align with the album’s intensely internal focus. Frontman Ian Shelton explained, “Everything in ‘God Save The Gun’ became so focused on the internal, that when it came to fitting these songs in, it felt like they had stepped outside of that perspective.” The track marks a reunion for the bands, who previously collaborated on the 2024 EP ‘Life Under the Sun’ and have toured together.

A Glimpse into the Deluxe Edition

The deluxe version of ‘God Save The Gun’ will include a total of three new tracks. Alongside “World’s Away Burning,” fans can expect “3 AM” and “I’ve Said Too Much,” the latter featuring artist Dazy. Brooklyn Vegan, which named the original album one of the best punk releases of 2025, first published the full 17-track listing. The new songs were held back not due to quality—Shelton told NME he is “obsessed” with the Mannequin Pussy collaboration—but to maintain the cohesive emotional narrative of the original record. The band has already been testing “World’s Away Burning” live, having debuted it at shows earlier this year.

The SoCal Punk Connection

While the single’s release is a global event, it carries a distinct Los Angeles flavor. Militarie Gun is a product of the city’s vibrant punk ecosystem, and this release reinforces their position at the forefront of its current wave. The band’s upcoming tour schedule solidifies this local connection, with two major Southern California dates confirmed for October 2026. They will headline The Regent Theater in Los Angeles on October 15th before joining punk legends Sex Pistols for a show at the Hollywood Palladium on October 18th. These shows present a prime opportunity for local fans to experience the new material in a live setting.

Looking ahead, the release sets the stage for a busy period for Militarie Gun. After their current European tour, the band will embark on a extensive North American headline tour this September, aptly named the “20 Songs for $20 Tour” with support from Softcult, Shady Nasty, and Dazy. The August 7th release of ‘God Save The Gun (Deluxe)’ will give fans a fuller picture of the album’s creative scope just as the band hits the road.
