Skillet is set to release their new heavy metal EP, After the Storm, on October 2, as reported by Spin. The band, known for their energetic and spiritually charged rock anthems, continues to draw younger fans while addressing modern themes of digital isolation and personal struggle. Frontman John Cooper emphasizes the EP’s heavier, more angsty direction, with tracks like “Scream” and “Lift Me Up” reflecting contemporary societal tensions and personal battles.
Meanwhile, Mastodon is generating buzz with a unique vinyl release, the Marrow Deep Bone Dust edition, which includes fragments of actual mastodon fossil, per Louder Sound. This innovative approach underscores the band’s commitment to blending artistry with tangible, collectible experiences for their dedicated fanbase.
Tour Dates and Local Impact
Skillet has one confirmed SoCal show on October 31 at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, promising a high-energy performance aligned with their new material. Additionally, Daughtry, who recently shared festival bills with Skillet, will perform at the Grove of Anaheim on November 10, offering rock enthusiasts multiple opportunities to experience live music this fall.
The SoCal Connection
Southern California’s rock and metal scene remains vibrant with these upcoming performances. Skillet’s Inglewood date is a highlight for local fans, providing a chance to hear new songs like “Scream” live.
