Beck has unveiled “Disappearing Act,” the third single from his forthcoming album Ride Lonesome, set for release on September 18 via Capitol Records. Rolling Stone reports that the track offers an “airy, lyrically sparse and string-backed” glimpse into the album’s thematic core of navigating solitude and transformation. This marks Beck’s first full-length LP in seven years, following 2019’s Hyperspace.
According to a press release obtained by Under the Radar, the album reunites Beck with his core bandmates—Smokey Hormel, Joey Waronker, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Roger Joseph Manning Jr., and Jason Falkner—alongside producer Nigel Godrich. The group recorded at United Studios in Hollywood, revisiting the collaborative chemistry that defined albums like Sea Change and Grammy-winning Morning Phase. Beck described the sessions as yielding “new sounds and emotional textures” while building on decades of shared musical history.
Tour Dates and Album Themes
The 12-track album follows earlier singles “Ride Lonesome” (a duet with Sierra Ferrell) and “In the Night,” both echoing the introspective, singer-songwriter vibe of Beck’s most acclaimed work. In an NPR interview cited by Rolling Stone, Beck connected the music to periods of personal reflection, noting it captures “the dark comfort of pushing through the parts of life that are maybe not as comfortable or easy.” A 26-date North American tour accompanies the release, launching in Vancouver on September 16 and concluding with a Halloween show in Nashville.
The SoCal Connection
Los Angeles fans have a major homecoming to anticipate: Beck will perform at the Greek Theatre on September 23, one of only two Southern California dates on the tour (alongside Santa Barbara Bowl on September 22). The Greek Theatre holds symbolic significance—it’s a venue Beck has played multiple times throughout his career, and its open-air setting complements the organic, layered sound of the new material. Given the album’s Hollywood studio origins and Beck’s deep ties to the LA music scene, this show is poised to be a highlight of the tour.
Tickets for the Greek Theatre performance are available through the venue’s events page, though fans should act quickly as several tour dates have already sold out. With the album release and tour kickoff just weeks away, Beck’s return promises to be one of the season’s most anticipated musical events.
