Piano-driven art rock mainstay Tori Amos has announced a new concept album and a sweeping US tour that will bring her to Los Angeles this summer. Her album In Times of Dragons will arrive on May 1, 2026 via Universal/Fontana, with a second single titled “Shush” already available online. According to Consequence and Under the Radar, the record blends fantastical storytelling with pointed political themes about democracy, tyranny and what she calls “Dictator-believing Lizard Demons.”
“Shush” expands the album’s world by casting Amos as a fictional version of herself who decades earlier married a “dangerous, power-hungry billionaire.” In press materials quoted by Under the Radar, she describes the character as an embodiment of unchecked wealth and political influence. “He sees congressmen, senators, and even probably presidents, as people who answer to him and other billionaires, who don’t think you and I should vote,” Amos said. “He’s trying to develop the kind of feudal system we had hundreds of years ago.” She previously shared the lead single “Stronger Together,” which features vocals from her daughter and collaborator TASH.
Concept, Themes and Tour Dates
In Times of Dragons is framed as a metaphorical concept album, using fantastical imagery and a fictionalized self to examine contemporary power dynamics. As Stereogum notes, the new single “Shush” advances the narrative by introducing the “lizard-demon” billionaire figure and the alternate life that could have unfolded around him. The album follows Amos’s 2025 children’s book and companion album Tori and the Muses, suggesting a deliberate turn toward more elaborate storytelling and world-building.
In support of the record, Amos will play an extensive US tour throughout the summer and early fall. According to Under the Radar’s routing, she will perform at more than two dozen venues across the country, including a Los Angeles concert at The Greek Theatre – Los Angeles on August 25, 2026. That show follows appearances at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado on August 20 and Arizona Financial Theatre in Phoenix on August 23.
What It Means for SoCal Fans
For Southern California audiences, the tour announcement offers a rare chance to hear new material in a storied outdoor setting. The Greek Theatre in Griffith Park is a long-standing favorite for Amos completists and a natural fit for her intimate-but-grand piano-and-voice arrangements. The current itinerary also includes nearby stops in San Diego on August 26 at San Diego Civic Theatre and, slightly farther north, in Paso Robles on August 28 at Vina Robles Amphitheatre, giving fans from Orange County to the Central Coast multiple options.
From an editorial perspective, the Los Angeles date is particularly significant for longtime followers: Amos has deep history in the city and has often used Southern California stages to test new arrangements and live-only medleys. The Greek Theatre’s capacity and acoustics typically allow her to balance the theatricality of a concept record like In Times of Dragons with the improvisational looseness that defines her shows.
Looking ahead, tickets for the US tour are already on sale through the venues and Amos’s official channels, with the LA show and its San Diego and Paso Robles counterparts among the most likely to sell quickly. While exact setlists and staging details for the In Times of Dragons tour have not yet been announced, the album’s narrative arc and the prominence of “Stronger Together” and “Shush” in the rollout suggest the new songs will anchor the summer performances.
